Interview with Dr Marcos Roca-Cusachs in Researchers around the world

On the science radio programme ‘Investigadores por el Mundo’ (Researchers Around the World), episode 297, presented and directed by Antonio G. Armas, broadcast on Radio Libertad on Tuesday 30 September between 7.30 and 8 p.m., we interviewed Dr Marcos Roca-Cusachs. He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Barcelona. He holds a Master’s degree in Biodiversity with an emphasis on evolution from the Faculty of Barcelona. He has a PhD in Applied Biology from Chungnam National University (South Korea), focusing on the taxonomy and systematics of the Pentatomidae family, a group of bugs (insects) with some 5,000 species. He is currently in his second postdoc at the University of New South Wales (UNSW- Sydney, Australia), on a project funded by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF-Australia – Biosecurity), continuing with the classification and systematics of this group, combining classical morphological techniques with massive DNA sequencing using ultra-conserved elements of the genome (UCEs) to resolve and define the position of the species Halyomorpha halys, considered one of the most significant insect pests of the last 5-10 years. He is also a board member of SRAP (Spanish Researchers in Australia – Pacific), whom we thank for their collaboration in producing this interview. https://open.spotify.com/episode/6r1s99xGp2EMtQUZ6ZOaTZ
