Australia’s participation in Horizon Europe is big news for researchers and an especially exciting development for the SRAP community.
In a recent Campus Review article, Professor Luis Salvador-Carulla, from the University of Canberra and SRAP board member, shared his perspective on what this means for Australian academics. With many years of experience working with European research programmes, Prof Salvador-Carulla described Australia joining Horizon Europe as a “game changer” and one of the most significant developments in research funding for Australia in decades.
Horizon Europe opens the door to larger international collaborations, particularly in areas with strong societal impact such as health, clean energy, digital technologies, space, defence and innovation. For Spanish researchers and academics based in Australia-Pacific, this represents an important opportunity to strengthen links with European partners and take part in ambitious collaborative projects.
At SRAP, we are very pleased that Prof Salvador-Carulla will also be sharing his experience directly with our members through upcoming workshops on Horizon Europe. These sessions will help SRAP members better understand the programme and explore how they may engage with these new opportunities.
