Hosted by SRAP Victorian Representative, Mr Ivan Martinez Botella, the event consisted of talks by four SRAP members. The talks invited the audience to learn about research in different topics like organometallic catalysis, malaria, astrophysics, and plants in space. The event was well attended with over 50 people registered. The attendees enjoyed the talks and had the opportunity to network over tapas and drinks.
The first speaker was Dr Ana Luque Gómez, SRAP member and Chemist specialised in organometallic catalysis and sustainable chemistry. Ana presented a talk related to her PhD studies into Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) using organometallic catalysts. See Dr Ana Luque’s bio here.
The second speaker was Dr Elena Lantero Escolar. Elena is a SRAP member who works as a Research Officer in the Boddey Laboratory, Division of Infection and Global Health at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). Elena presented a talk related to her career and research into malaria transmission through mosquitoes. See Dr Elena Lantero’s bio here.
The third speaker was Ms Olivia Vidal Velazquez, SRAP member and PhD Candidate in Astrophysics at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing (CAS), Swinburne University of Technology. Olivia presented a talk related to correlations between Supernovae types and their host galaxies. See Ms Olivia Vidal’s bio here.
The last speaker was Dr Marta Peirats-Llobet, Research Fellow at La Trobe University in Ecological Plant and Animal Sciences, Melbourne. Marta talked about her trajectory and presented a talk entitled “Plants and Outdoor Space”. See Dr Marta Peirats’ bio here.
