For Australia’s National Science Week 2022 SRAP joins forces with Instituto Cervantes Sydney organising 3 free science communication events. The first one of them, “Online stargazing: discovering the Winter Southern Sky“, was held fully virtual on Tuesday 16th August, 6:30pm.
We used a couple of telescopes to show live some of the magnificent objects of the winter Southern sky: nebulae, star clusters, galaxies and planets.
The speakers were:
- Dr Ángel R. López-Sánchez (MQ, SRAP)
- Pablo Corcho-Caballero (PhD candidate, UAM/MQ & SRAP)
- Rami Madow (MRes candidate, MQ/CSIRO, SpaceAustralia.com)
- Kirsten Banks (PhD candidate, UNSW, SpaceAustralia.com)
The event was planned as a fluid and dynamic conversation between the four astronomers while they drive us through the stars. They answered questions as they were coming from the online audience. This online stargazing event was recommended for kids and grown-ups alike!
