Ana Vila-Concejo emphasizes the urgency of global actions at COP 27 to fight climate change

Renowned scientist and SRAP member, environmentalist, and academic from the University of Sydney, Prof Ana Vila-Concejo, has been interviewed today in SBS radio in Spanish (link and interview in Spanish) to comment about the United Nations Climate Summit held in Egypt, known as COP 27.

Prof Ana Vila-Concejo emphasizes the urgent need for a global effort to halt climate change.

Climate change is already here, and we are witnessing its effects. These natural disasters we are experiencing are directly linked to it. These are facts, not opinions” says the Spanish-Australian scientist.

We cannot erase it, but we can stop it. We can prevent it from worsening.”

Do we want to live in a world like this? Do we want to live in a world where you have to check an app in the morning to know if the temperature is survivable? I don’t want that for my children. I am concerned about the direction we are heading,” says Vila-Concejo.

In her impassioned plea, Vila-Concejo stresses the importance of taking immediate action to address climate change and protect future generations. The consequences of inaction are becoming increasingly evident, and the need for global cooperation and collective responsibility has never been more crucial.

As scientists continue to sound the alarm, it is imperative for individuals, communities, and governments to come together and prioritize sustainable practices, renewable energy sources, and proactive measures to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change. The time to act is now, before it’s too late.
