SRAP participates in ‘The Longest Voyage’ exhibition


On 17 November 2022 we launched The Longest Voyage’, an exhibit to commemorate the five hundredth anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the world completed by Juan Sebastian Elcano and his crew aboard the Victoria in 1522. This exhibition has been organised by the Spanish Embassy in Australia, the Australian National University (ANU) Centre for European Studies and SRAP and it is sponsored by Navantia Australia.

The exhibit, The Longest Voyage, aims to celebrate this voyage, first launched by Ferdinand Magellan in 1519, as a key moment in our universal history and as a reflection of humanity’s explorer spirit in the face of the unknown.

The launch of the exhibition was at 4:15pm at the  Cultural Centre Kambri (ANU Building 153), Australian National University. The event was opened by Prof Anne McNaughton (ANU College of Law and Director of the ANU Centre for European Studies) and Her Excellency Ms Alicia Moral-Revilla (Ambassador of Spain in Australia).
