About
Dr Fernandez-Martos is a research fellow at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre (WDREC) at the University of Tasmania. She has a PhD in biomedicine and the main background of her research has been focused on neurological disorders. Her research line is focus on the influence of leptin metabolic dysfunction in disease conditions, which is a common feature of many neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD). More specifically, Dr Fernandez-Martos’ research explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the leptin response in these conditions, with an aim to develop new translational therapies focused on neuroprotection.
