About
I am Senior Research Scientist at the Bureau of Meteorology in Melbourne. I do research on estimation and forecast of rainfall in real-time using weather radars and rain gauges, statistical analysis of the structure of rainfall, and developing operational systems to generate ensembles of rainfall forecasts for hydrology (for example the new radar rainfall nowcasts in the Bureau Apps)
I also have over 15-year experience as a hydrologist with experience in scientific and applied research, delivering operational flood forecasting and warning services and managing hydrometric field networks. I have experience leading operational food forecasting teams as lead flood forecaster and Regional Hydrology Manager.
I have a PhD in Civil Engineering (Hydrology) from Universitat Politecnica de Catalonia (Barcelona) (2009), a Master of Water Resources Management (2002) and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (1999) from the National University of Colombia.
