About

Cristian completed a BA in English Studies, a BA in Spanish (language and literature), a Master in Hispanic Linguistics and a Master of Education, at the University of Valencia (Spain), the University of Sheffield (England), and the University of Burgos (Spain). He also completed a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics (with a thesis on the linguistic resources of Spanglish found in latino literature in the USA) at the University of Valencia, with an internship to research at Sao Paulo State University (Brazil). Besides, Cristian holds the Qualified Teacher Status in England and he is a certified DELE examiner by the Instituto Cervantes. He taught at Blacon High School (the UK) and Sao Paulo State University / FCLAr (Brazil) before joining the academic staff of La Trobe University, where his primary area of teaching consists on Spanish as a foreign language. His academic and researching interests are Spanish as a second language (E/LE), lexicology, lexicography, language contact and dialectology, mainly focused on Spanish from the USA and Latin America, Spanglish and Portunhol.
