About
Maria Comas is a Research Fellow at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and at the University of Sydney. Maria is a molecular chronobiologist interested in bridging basic and translational research in the chronobiology and sleep fields. To this end, she has established at the Woolcock Institute and at the University of Sydney and array of molecular techniques directed at study of the mechanisms that govern functionality of the circadian clock in various diseases and disorders (e.g. copd, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia). In addition, she is developing therapeutic strategies, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, directed at improving sleep, circadian clock functionality and cognitive function in elderly people.
