SRAP invited to a Diplomatic event celebrating Europe Day 2022

On Tuesday 17th May the Consuls General of the Member States of the European Union invited SRAP President, Dr. Ángel López-Sánchez, and SRAP vice-president, Dr. Carmen Salvador-Palomeque, to a special diplomatic event celebrating Europe Day 2022, at the beautiful Refectory Dining Hall at Sydney University.

The title of this diplomatic event was “Australia & Europe: Shared Values in a Time of Crisis“, exploring the importance of promoting human rights, democracy and respect for international law, amidst the Russian invasion of Ukraine and growing instability internationally.

From left to right: Dr. Ángel López-Sánchez (SRAP President), Mr. Tehmur Khan Galindo (Indra Australia), Vasyl Myroshnychenko (Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia), Mr. Javier Carbajosa Sánchez (Spanish General Consul in Sydney) and his wife, and Dr. Carmen Salvador-Palomeque (SRAP Vice-president).

The speakers of the event were:

  • Věra Jourová, Vice-President of the EU for Values and Transparency
  • Michel Pulch, EU Ambassador to Australia
  • Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia
  • Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher AM, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission

It was a really inspiring event where we had the opportunity of talking to both the EU Ambassador and the Ukrainian Ambassador, as well as some few other diplomats including Anne Boillon, General Consul of France in Sydney. We want to thank the Spanish Consulate in Sydney and the Spanish General Consul in Sydney, Mr. Javier Carbajosa Sánchez, for the invitation to attend this diplomatic event.
