Mr. Chris Maxworthy

Position: Naval Officer / Researcher

Department: School of Philosophy and Historical Inquiry (SOPHI)

University/Institute/Company: Sydney University

Historical researcher on the connection of Australia with Colonial Spain in the Pacific Ocean, between 1788 and 1820. I have a particular interest on the British and Australian privateers operating from Sydney against Mexico, Panama, Peru and Chile during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
I also have a strong interest in the memory of Malaspina and Bustamante, the Spanish Enlightenment explorers who were the first European explorers to visit Sydney in 1793. Please note that March 2018 will be the 175 anniversary of that visit. SRAP should lead with some form of commemoration or memoralising.
